2004 TRD SCION xA
The Scion xA five-door subcompact moves into stealth mode for the SEMA Show when decked out in Black Sand Pearl paint and a host of aftermarket equipment available from Toyota Racing Development, Inc., (TRD).
The Scion xA and its xB running mate have become favorites of the aftermarket and those that like to personalize their vehicles. Sold previously only in California, Scion models will be sold nationwide in 2004.
The Scion xA's 1.5-liter, free-revving four-cylinder engine equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), breathes easier thanks to a cold air intake from AEM and a TRD Sport Muffler that also provides a distinctive sound. Both are 50-state emissions legal and the Sport Muffler conforms to 95 db noise limits.
The distinctive profile of the xA has been dropped by a set of lowering springs and 18 x 7.5 inch five-spoke brushed aluminum wheels with Pirelli P Zero 215/35x18 tires. New high performance gas-charged shocks improve cooling and performance. The MacPherson strut front suspension is further stiffened by a Hotchkis front strut tie bar, adding to the aggressive feel of the xA.
The metal-tone instrument panel trim and matching ventilation controls on the center console, along with stylized black-on-white gauges, are complimented by the addition of a gray steering wheel and shift knob, along with new floor and cargo mats. A Scion security system with remote keyless entry provides added protection.
